A local Austinite known for a small release of sultry songs and a magnificent presence on the live music scene, Sheridan Reed brings us soul music with a subtle blend of R&B and pop. His music compliments a brooding, passionate style and introspective intensity. This week, his debut EP Serendipity will be released, and we're very excited to hear it.
His 2018 release of debut single We Should Both Be Here put Sheridan Reed on the map - a sultry, cadenced track with a brooding, beautifully-executed music video. This first single earned accolades for its' honesty, maturity and intensity. It garnered several hundred thousand Youtube views and kicked off a sensational following on Instagram. He followed with Money Maker in January of 2019; described as “sensual and clean” (Jun Chen, HipHopMagz) with complexity and artfully overlaid undertones.

A transplant from northern California, he tested the waters in alternative rock, jazz band and pop-rock before finding his sound and soul in Austin. He credits diverse influences - from Motown, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5 to Billie Eilish. Describing his work as “tonally dark” but with subtle complexity, it combines moody sensuality with approachable and catchy melodies. He says his work is “cathartic, introspective and personal, raw and honest.”
"It’s been a long process finding my voice and my sound over the last several years. “Serendipity” began with my first single, “We Should Both Be Here”. It was the first song I wrote that felt like a new iteration of me and the direction that I wanted. A direction where I have room to grow and explore. Over the last year, I have continued to write and expand on my new sound, while also trying to find my way in the world and in a new city. Amidst some stumbles and setbacks, I began to feel things clicking into place. I didn’t know where it would lead but a friend made a great point, telling me “When you’re on your path, the universe conspires with you”. My writing is about love gained and lost, the complex dynamics of relationships, growing older and taking in stride the harsh realities that come with growth. These songs were shaped and created over several months while I traveled across the US and culminated in my new EP, “Serendipity”."
Sheridan’s debut EP Serendipity premieres with Ones to Watch on May 2nd and is live everywhere May 3rd. Learn more on his website.
